â€Å"Our safety programs protect us from accidental harm; our national security programs protect us from deliberate harm† (www.rita.dot.gov.bts). The National Security works to keep the people and country safe from outside harm. It’s not only the National Security but many others who search and investigate problems in the US. One of the leading contributors is terrorism, among many other leading factors that are causing problems for the National Security. Terrorism has caused the United States some trouble throughout the years. Even though the United States has not had many terrorist attacks, the subject still seems to cause problems. Terrorism is not just physical attacks; it involves cyber-attacks and espionage. Physical attacks are made to murder and destroy Americans as well as create chaos. In 2001 Americans went through a huge tragedy due to terrorism. On September eleventh, 2001 in New York City the twin towers were hit by two hijacked planes. There was said to be two other planes involved in this horrendous attack, one that hit the pentagon and another that crashed in a field. It was said flight ninety-three, which was the plane that crashed in the field, was bound for Washington, DC. President Bush had addressed the country later on after the attack by saying â€Å"These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat, but they have failed† (www.nytimes.com).
